Westbridge Appraisals, a division of the Westbridge Fine Art Group, is one of Canada's most trusted fine art valuation companies. Run by father and son team Anthony and Nicholas Westbridge, Westbridge Appraisals has offices in both Vancouver and Toronto and offers its clients a full range of fine art appraisal services.
Anthony Westbridge, owner and founder of Westbridge Fine Art, has been actively involved in the Canadian and International art markets for more than 40 years as author, publisher, auctioneer, dealer, appraiser, and consultant. Dubbed the unofficial "Dean of the Canadian Art Market" by national press, Anthony combines his wealth of knowledge as publisher of the Canadian Art Sales Index with the management of a boutique auction house to provide both clients, and the entire industry, with unparalleled insight into the Canadian art market. Through his role at Westbridge Fine Art Auction House, Anthony has regular hands-on interaction with Canadian and international paintings, prints and sculptures, researching art and artists to establish accurate auction estimates. Such unique experience proves invaluable when undertaking appraisals, and translates to a more exact valuation for clients. Anthony is currently based out of our offices in downtown Vancouver.
Anthony's son, Nicholas, has worked alongside his father in the auction and appraisal business for over 7 years. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Toronto with a Major in Art History, and recently completed his Graduate studies, also at the University of Toronto, earning a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Art History. Nicholas has a passion for research and writing, and specializes in historical and contemporary Canadian art. He has an active role in the publication of the Canadian Art Sales Index, and before relocating to Toronto worked at the Vancouver auction house, aiding in the valuation of consigned works and daily sales operations. Nicholas has been a member-in-good-standing of the CPPAG (Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group) since March 2009, and is certified to produce appraisals for insurance, fair market value, and charitable donation purposes. He is currently working on a catalogue raisonné of the First Nations portraits of Canadian artist Mildred Valley Thornton, and works primarily out of Toronto.
